Security Guard Training Requirements for the "Guard Card"

Getting the “Guard Card”

 

 

1. “Prior to standing post: Eight (8) hour Powers To Arrest Class to include lecture and situational exercises. The Powers to Arrest Workbook and Test will remain essentially the same, but is expanded to eight hours with the lecture and situational exercises. B&P 7583.6(b)”

2. NOTE: The Initial Firearms Class is a different course that students are required to take prior to carrying a firearm.

 

3. Within 30 days of issuance of the Guard Registration Card: 16 hours of training must be completed by the licensee. Eight hours of mandatory training and eight hours of elective training must be taken.

4. Sintex Security Services refers to this block as Level II & III Training. Eight hours of mandatory training and eight hours of elective training.” Each 8 hour class registration fee is: $60.00

 

5. “Within six months of issuance of Guard Registration Card: An additional 16 hours of training. Eight hours of mandatory training and eight hours of elective training.”

6. Sintex Security Services refers to this block as Level IV & V Training. Eight hours of mandatory training and eight hours of elective training.” Each 8 hour class registration fee is: $60.00

 

A certificate is to be issued upon satisfactory completion of a required course, conducted in accordance with the BSIS requirement. A certificate issued by the training entity must certify completion of the course, the number of hours, and that the training complies with BSIS issued guidelines. B&P 7583.6. (C). BSIS highly suggests that the certificates be numbered.

Sintex Security Services Inc. issues certificates for each level of completion.

Continuing Education Units: As of January 1st, 2005...All security personnel must complete eight (8) hours of “Continuing Education Units” annually B&P 7583.6(f) [1].
